IIDF and Skolkovo invested into Texel

IIDF invests 51.7 million RUB into Texel, which developed the technology for creation of a parametric model of a human being. The company will forward raised investments for patenting and further improvement of the technology, as well as expansion into the markets of the USA and European countries.

Now Texel works on the artificial intelligence (AI) technology that will make it possible to create a 3D model of a human being even without a scanner. AI is educated on the basis of its own and largest data base in the world — it includes more than 60 K color 3D models of a human body collected with the help of Texel scanners in activation campaigns of the largest brands (VISA, MasterCard, HP, Cisco, 20 century FOX etc.). Thanks to unique data collection, Texel is invited to the closed international consortium (with such members as Intel, Target, Columbia, Lectra etc.) for development of the standard of human body 3D model IEEE 3D Body Processing, where it supervises the standardization of file formats.

Texel technologies may be used in many spheres, but currently the team decided to focus on retail. In particular, use of own “virtual copies” by the customers will enable them to more efficiently select clothes models and size when shopping online and come back more often as a result.

Besides, the technology for 3D scanning of a human being may make the shopping process smarter and more personalized. Texel solutions make it possible to recommend to buyers certain brands and collections of clothes, as well as size and even style, based on body type.
